Sounds like an air raid siren. November 16, 2006 Reviewer:  NoBeeEss (Hometown)  See all my reviews >

Wow. Its like having a tea kettle on the boil. Or a car window rolled down at 60 mph. You get the idea. I'll be taking this one back to the store today. Don't know how this made it out of R & D.

No problems here! April 11, 2007 Reviewer:  Erin M (Oregon, USA)  See all my reviews >

Of the 3 humidifiers we own, this one is my favorite. It has a "humming" noise just like other humidifiers, but it doesn't have the annoying "glug-glug-glug" sounds that so many other humidifiers have when water drains from the top to the bottom of the unit. In that respect it's quieter than most. I had this running in my 2-year-old's bedroom for 3 weeks straight during his last nasty cold. It worked great, and the "white noise" actually seemed to help him sleep. We like it, and have had no problems with it!

Pharmacist Recommended January 19, 2009 Reviewer:  Michele L. Claycomb-noel Real Name See all my reviews >

After a spell of really dry weather I went to Target and asked the pharmacist which humidifier I should purchase. She immediately pointed to this one, Cold Mist because warm encourages bacteria growth and Ultrasonic so that I wouldn't ever need a filter. It works great and most importantly, quiet! Gave it 4 out of 5 because turns out you do need to replace the "Decrystalization thingy", but other than that I highly recommend it.

Leaked 1st day November 2, 2008 Reviewer:  Kristy C See all my reviews >

I was looking for a solution to dry nose, throat and chapped lips and bought this more expensive version of an ultrasonic humidifier. When I got home I was careful to follow all instructions exactly and set it up to test. It started out fine with a nice solid mist. After about 30 minutes I looked at it again and noticed barely any mist and half of the water reservoir was gone! It had leaked all over! It seemed to have been leaking from the dial. The basin was overfilled so I emptied it, started over and the mist was full power again. Ran it at full blast until I found the basin would again overfill, causing the mist to dissipate and water to come flowing out of the dial and under the water tank again. I took it straight back to the store and got a cheaper Crane child's ultrasonic humidifier (the Dragon model) and it is working great. It has a mild water trickling noise but nothing you would even notice consistently. Just because you spend more doesn't mean you're getting a better product. Save yourself a couple bucks.

Loved it till it broke! December 6, 2007 Reviewer:  NJ Mom (Jersey)  See all my reviews >

Super cool item. Worked fabulous for a week.
Then one day no mist.
Read up on reasons why and tried to fix but couldn't.
1 week to humidify my house= [expensive]
The look on my husband's face when I told him it broke= priceless.

Works fantastically. December 2, 2007 Reviewer:  Satisfied Customer See all my reviews >

I got this humidifier at Target probably about a year ago, and it still works great, however I didn't use it that frequently. Now that it is winter again, though, and very dry, it has made a HUGE noticeable difference in the quality of air in my living room. My living room is fairly large in size for an apartment, and I have 9-foot ceilings. I think, in general, it has made my entire two-bedroom apartment much more comfortable with a better air quality.

Quiet and Powerfull, but... November 20, 2007 Reviewer:  Joe (Auburn, MA USA)  See all my reviews >

The V5100N is by far the quietest humidifier we've ever had.
Great for the bedrooms, we have one in each! Unfortunately, you may have to return a few before you get one that is properly quiet. I returned 3 before we had a set of 5 that were equaly quiet. (1 in kitchen, 1 each bedroom)
Using Distilled water keeps them cleaner and the filter lasts much longer.

Leaked after 2nd use May 2, 2007 Reviewer:  Sarah (San Francisco)  See all my reviews >

I used this for two nights -no problem. Then when I came home from work after second day, the water had leaked out all over my wooden furniture.

Don't Do It April 7, 2007 Reviewer:  Unhappy "JBoss" (Austin, TX USA)  See all my reviews >

I'm on #2 of these. I thought the fact that my first one died after the 2nd night was rare, so I exchanged it for the same one. That one died too.

perfect April 13, 2009 Reviewer:  SMART SHOPPER See all my reviews >

I HAVE HAD THIS PRODUCT FOR 11 YEARS BEFORE IT QUIT WORKING. I JUST PURCHASED THE EXACT SAME ONE AGAIN. THE HUMIDIFIER IS VERY QUIET, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IT IS ON. IT IS VERY EASY TO USE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. THIS MACHINE IS NOT MADE TO USE TWENTY FOUR HOURS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK. THAT IS WHY THEY MAKE LARGE WHOLE HOUSE UNITS. IF YOU USE A BIOSTAT CHEMICAL IN YOUR WATER , YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BACTERIA GROWTH. THE UNIT NEVER LEAKED. I WAS VERY GLAD THEY STILL MAKE THIS MODEL,AND HOPE THEY ALWAYS WILL.
